Belair House Dulwich Wedding Photography

Melanie & Ruaridh

Q: What do jalapeno peppers, fire, phaal curries and the wedding of Melanie and Ruairidh Kerr all have in common?

A: They’re all unbelievably hot.

Let me explain – when I met my Australian assistant photographer Matt Jerram at Belair House before the wedding began, even he mentioned the heat. I figure that if someone from a notoriously calescent climate such as Australia mentions the heat, it has to be hot. And my word, it was an absolutely glorious day for a wedding.

Belair House is a wonderful venue. It’s large enough to feel grandiose and special, yet small enough to be intimate and welcoming. A perfect wedding venue then, you might argue. And this was a perfect wedding – everyone was in fabulous spirits (it’s always wonderful to laugh and joke with friends and family of the bride and groom, and to enjoy the day not only as a photographer but as a guest too), and as mentioned above the sun shone relentlessly all day. A particular highlight was the Céilidh dancing, although I did feel a little sorry for the lady attempting to lead the proceedings and assemble guests for each dance, as she was more often than not met by a brick wall of drunken joviality (i.e lots of laughing and joking / drinking and not a lot of participation.) Everyone had a fabulous time though, and that my friends is all that matters.

So a huge congratulations to Mr and Mrs Kerr – thank you from the bottom of my heart for asking me to photograph your special day, and it’s been an absolute pleasure. I hope you love your photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them!
